About  AICPT

Founded in 1995 in as Autonomous Body of ABMCKS, which registered under Society Act XXI of 1860 and under Income Tax Act 1961 of 80G & 12A, having the registered office in New Delhi, India. AICPT is Intellectual Property under Min. of Commerce, Govt.of India.  All India Council of Physical Therapy (AICPT) is a voice for physical therapy persons with laws & rights under Constitution of India.

AICPT believes that every individual is entitled to the highest possible standard of culturally appropriate healthcare delivered in an atmosphere of trust and respect for human dignity and underpinned by sound clinical reasoning and scientific evidence. It is committed to furthering the physical therapy profession and improving global health through:

  • encouraging high standards of physical therapy research, education and practice
  • supporting the exchange of information between AICPT regions and members
  • collaborating with national and international Organisations

AICPT celebrate and campaigns the World Physical Therapy Day every year for the promotion of the role of physical therapist for rehabilitation in society.

What is physical therapy?

Physical therapists have different titles in different countries: in many countries they are called physiotherapists. Some countries have their own version of the word physical therapist, such as kinesiology’s. They are all part of the same profession.

Physical therapists provide services that develop, maintain and restore people’s maximum movement and functional ability. They can help people at any stage of life, when movement and function are threatened by ageing, injury, diseases, disorders, conditions or environmental factors.

Physical therapists help people maximize their quality of life, looking at physical, psychological, emotional and social wellbeing. They work in the health spheres of promotion, prevention, treatment/intervention, habilitation and rehabilitation.

Physical therapists are qualified and professionally required to:

  • undertake a comprehensive examination/assessment of the patient/client
  • evaluate the findings from the examination/assessment to make clinical judgments regarding patients/clients
  • formulate a diagnosis, prognosis and plan
  • provide consultation within their expertise and determine when patients/clients need to be referred to another healthcare professional
  • implement a physical therapist intervention/treatment programme
  • determine the outcomes of any interventions/treatments
  • Make recommendations for self-management.

What AICPT do?

AICPT share new ideas and expert from Physical Therapists about how they would like to develop their service.

AICPT give support through its organisation in the field of education, practice, research & policy with the best person to help like the following.

  • expanding physical therapy expertise in a particular area, such as oncology;
  • supporting international efforts, for example in response to polio outbreaks;
  • extending research collaboration;
  • supporting researchers;
  • provide recognition to the institution, college & university;
  • support service Networking among the Physical Therapist;
  • register membership online;

AICPT is developed to harness the expertise of physical therapists in support of the profession around the Countries.

We co-ordinate the programme with local state government and centre for the development, promotion and research of the Indian Physical Therapist. We hear and try to improve the service of Physical Therapist. This is a single organisation in India to follow the status of physical therapist.  We’re very keen to hear from those who feel they have something to offer in the way of special knowledge, or from those who have ideas of how they would like to see the service develop. We are also the international voice for physical therapist.

On behalf of its members, AICPT undertakes a range of projects and supports international campaigns to promote the physical therapy profession and its contribution to global health.  It encourages high standards of physical therapy research, education and practice. 

As a AICPT member, your membership is recognised as the sole authoritative body for physical therapy in your country, with access to a wide range of benefits..

  • General Meeting held every four years, ensuring AICPT’s work benefits the profession in the country and worldwide.
  • AICPT give Support for your establishing standards, developing education programmes and regulating the physical therapy profession in the country.

For membership of AICPT

In order to become a member of AICPT, a national physical therapy association must meet certain criteria. These criteria are:

  • For the membership of the organisation Individual should be qualified physical therapists
  • Physical therapists must be passed from the Organisation’s recognised Institution, College & University.
  • All interested Physical therapists may register as member in AICPT through online. The membership fee may deposit through online. After confirmation of payment,
  • Any organisation who representing the large number of the qualified physical therapists in the country shall be eligible for membership
  • The organisation shall have a code of ethics consistent with AICPT ethics.

International Policy

  • AICPT works with international health bodies, including the World Health Organization and the World Health Professions Alliance, ensuring the physical therapy profession is recognised. It consulted on global health initiatives and campaigns, including the promotion of positive working environments and tries to end the trade in counterfeit medical products.
  • AICPT is an Autonomous Body and is project partner of World Health Organization.
  • AICPT is follower of international physical therapy with representing a specific area of interest, providing an excellent resource for contacts and information on those areas of practice.

AICPT organised Award

AICPT present the best profession’s Award & honour to Physical therapist who have made outstanding international contributions to the profession.  Award presented every four years during the General Meeting.
